Punctuality

Start of the School Day

Pupils should arrive at school no later than 8.10 am. The school day starts at 8.15 am, at which time we expect your child to be in their form room. Registers are taken at 8.15am prompt, and your child will receive a late mark if they are not in their form room by that time.

At 9.00 am, the registers are closed.  In accordance with the Pupil Registration Regulations, if your child arrives after that time they will receive a mark that shows them to be on site, but this will not count as a present mark and it will mean they have an unauthorised absence.  This may mean that you could face the possibility of receiving a fixed penalty notice if the problem persists.

Procedures for Lateness

Pupils are issued a 30-minute whole school detention after three lates to school. Pupils will be informed by their form tutor and an email is sent to inform parents at least 24 hours prior to the detention. If your child has a persistent late record or is extremely late to school, there will be escalating sanctions and you will be asked to meet with appropriate members of school staff so we can agree how to get your child to school on time. You can approach us at any time if you are having challenges with your child’s punctuality.
